It’s a 10K race, really.  Well, actually, it’s a team event so you probably won’t run the full 10K distance, and there are three on your team but one of the team is a bicycle. Let me try to explain. A while back, Runner’s World featured a ride and tie race that took place out west. The rules were simple: Get your team (2 runners and a horse) across the finish line as quickly as possible and…only one person on a horse at a time. (Rapid thought sequence for me)…. It sounds like fun….. We could do this…. Horses???   Where would they come from???   How would we get them here???   What about bikes???   Bikes it is!!!   Same rules!!!

On Sunday, September 13, the morning after the Maple Leaf, our Ride and Tie bicycle/runner tag team 10K will be held at the Manchester Rec. Center. Awards will go to the top five teams. All bicycles in the race will be provided by the race director who personally guarantees that not one of the bikes was previously owned by Lance Armstrong. To score, your team must get all three team members across the finish line. Whether the bike is carrying  you or you are carrying the bike, is an individual, on course decision. Will you remember this race? Without a doubt?  A story for your wacky race list?    Will you remember your time?   I doubt it very much?   Entry forms will be available at the Maple Leaf on Saturday.
